Accessibility statement

The standard

The site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.

What that means in practice

• Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a “Skip to content” link.
• Pages use proper headings, landmarks and labelled form fields, and form errors are explained in words, linked to the field they refer to.
• Text and interface colours meet AA contrast requirements.
• Films are silent, decorative and never essential: they don’t load for people who have reduced motion or Data Saver switched on, and the homepage reel has a pause button.
• Images that carry information have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
• The layout works from small phones to large screens, and text can be enlarged to 200% without loss of content.

How it was checked

The site is tested with automated tools (axe-core and Google Lighthouse) on every page type, and by hand with a keyboard and reduced-motion settings.

Known limitations

Links to the live portfolio websites take you to other sites, which have their own accessibility statements. Some older journal articles include images supplied without detailed descriptions; these are being improved.
